Legacy and new generation management

About the client

A largest Spanish company that operates an electrical network of almost 30.000 kms of optical fibre.

Our challenge

The company was facing a dilemma: to be able to manage legacy and new added equipment from a single system. Specifically, their main concern was to continue maintaining a proper PDH network management while incorporating new systems.

They realised that it would not only allow them for a system convergence, it would also need to meet their future requirements enabling them to be prepared for a network evolution.

The solution

The SGRwin team proposed a multi-vendor NMS, including all FCAPS components. It is important to highlight that our system is multi-technology, offering an accurate management for legacy and new equipment. Our system is constantly evolving, so we assured them that the new system would be sustainable in the future.

Our team made sure all FCAPS features were carefully adapted to the client’s needs and requirements; a bespoke telecontrol plan for substation equipment was also designed.

The final results:

  • Keeping PDH network management.
  • Multi-vendor and multi-technology system convergence, reducing OPEX and CAPEX this way.
  • Legacy and new systems management from a single NMS. Meeting current and future needs.
  • Personalised FCAPS features, providing cost effectiveness.
  • E2E service provisioning implemented, saving from 1 to 4 hours when creating circuits.

Our solution enabled us to simplify the configuration and improve the management and maintenance for the long-term running of the system.

Due to the success of the project, the client has been utilising our system for more than 6 years. Therefore, our mutual collaboration has continued and we are currently working on setting up a SGRwin 8.6. version.
